Banned Books Week Video and Poster Challenges

What is Banned Books Week? Animated Video Challenge
Within the weeks leading up to Banned Books Week the library will sponsor an animated video challenge that serves to educate students and the community about Banned Books Week.  Students have the option of using GoAnimate or PowToons to create an animate video, no longer than two minutes, that educates others about and discusses Banned Books Week. Entries will be submitted and posted on the library website.  A panel of students and judges will award a winner, runner-up and honorable mention based upon the following criteria: contains accurate and relevant information to educate others, contains appropriate humor, is clear and within the time limit.  Winners will be featured on our digital display board and the library website. Winners will be awarded Young Adult Banned Books and one raffle ticket for a KindleFire.  The first place winner will earn five raffle tickets for a drawing for a KindleFire.

 Celebrate the Freedom to Read! - Virtual Poster Challenge
Within the weeks leading up to Banned Books Week the library will sponsor a virtual poster competition that highlights the freedom to read.  Students and faculty will be encouraged to create entries using Thinglink, StoreHouse, DaVinci Note, Glogster or another Web2.0 tool/Application.  Entries will be submitted and posted on the library website.  A panel of students and judges will award a winner, runner-up and honorable mention based upon the following criteria: contains examples of banned books, contains relevant information to educate others, celebrates the freedom to read, and visual appeal.  Winners will be awarded Young Adult Banned Books. Winners will be awarded Young Adult Banned Books and one raffle ticket for a KindleFire.  The first place winner will earn five raffle tickets for a drawing for a KindleFire.
